It happens. Sometimes a title just doesn't work for a book or, in this case, it's too close to another work.
My next Crispin Guest Medieval Noir was to be titled A Conspiracy of Parchment, a nod to another fine historical called A Conspiracy of Paper. Though the books aren't the same in any way--different centuries, different plots--it was felt it was too close for comfort. So, after working with my fellow Sisters in Crime, I got some help and opinions on the new title: The Demon's Parchment. Enigmatic, I hope.
