Alas. The days of Easter jousts at the Royal Armouries at Leeds is no more. I am aggrieved to see its passing, because I am a major jousting fan. Oh yes. A man in armor really does it for me. Put him on a horse with a lance and have him charge at another man in armor, hooves pounding the lists, lances clashing, and I am swooning for the shear earthiness of it all.
But fear not! For there is still horesmanship in store for those venturing to Leeds for Easter weekend. Apparently, Atkinson Action Horses will be on hand with a "spectacular show featuring the thrills and spills of the Roman amphitheatre, the awesome skill of horseback archers, gun-toting cowboys plus battlefield drama and much, much more."
Gun-toting cowboys? I can get that any time here in the good ole US of A. But I suppose it's still kind of unique for the Brits. Though they don't have to go to Leeds for that. I would say to just watch the telly and absorb all our TV crime drama exports. Gun-toting cowboys indeed!
