While we wait with baited breath for the release of SHADOW OF THE ALCHEMIST, there is other medeival news out there. For instance, in Norfolk, archaeologists have found a medieval boat, timbers and all. According to the August BBC article:
Archaeologist Heather Wallis said: "No boats of this date have previously been found in Norfolk." She added it was a "unique opportunity" to "record a vessel of this type".
It's a wonderful find. Many small boats and ships don't make it in the water unless they are deep enough away from elements that will destroy the wooden timbers. To actually see the boat's shape really helps historians get a handle on what sorts of transport was really used along the rivers, so important for commerce throughout England.
